A good chunk of what we do doesn't pay us anything. Through We Support Local, we play for free at ribbon cuttings and grand openings for new local businesses — no cost to them, which means it comes out of our own pocket to make it happen.
Every so often we also show up somewhere just to give back — like the afternoon we spent teaching a group of kids the basics of playing saxophone. Donations don't fund a single show or a single band member — they help us say yes to more of these moments, not fewer.
